We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a Band 6 Sister/Charge nurse on Ward 310. The ward is a 30 bedded ward, which provides care to Neurological/stroke and general medical patients.



The post holder will be expected to provide clinical leadership to our nursing and support staff alongside the existing Senior Sister.

We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual who has excellent communication skills, and has the ability, drive and enthusiasm to motivate the team to provide high quality patient care. You will need to have good organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to demonstrate leadership.

The Sister/Charge Nurse role involves patient and staff education and student teaching. Collaborative working is also a fundamental part of the role which involves working with the consultants, dieticians, Neurology CNS and therapists who all work together for the benefit of the patients

The successful candidate will:
• Support the Band 7 Ward Manager to lead a team of staff to provide a high quality service; ensuring excellent standards of patient care are delivered and maintained
• Deputise in the absence of the ward manager
• Provide effective support and leadership to staff, patients and carers on the ward.
• Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff
• Be a role model for the team and will motivate and inspire others to be the very best they can be
• Ensure all staff are supported to provide high standards of quality care
• Complete clinical audits and using them to shape/influence improvement projects
• Manage a team of staff ensuring there e-learning and mandatory training are kept up to date
• Manage sickness/absence
• Manage performance
• Be a vital point of contact for patients and relatives
• Be expected to assist with the general care of the patients
• Be visible and approachable on the ward
• Escalate concerns where appropriate
