The School of Engineering, Liverpool John Moores University is seeking to appoint a Software Developer, 0.5fte for a fixed term of 10 months to join an exciting research and innovation project jointly funded by Innovate UK and the South Korean government to contribute to the development of optimisation and simulation models for better connecting ports and ships.
You will act as a Software Developer to assist on the development of simulation and optimisation modelling to improve the use of AI and mathematical techniques to improve the performance of ships and ports.
You are expected to work closely with other partners to understand their research and development within the project, and to identify any area that we can provide assistance with.
Working with the team, you will also engage with industry partners to gather necessary data for the optimisation, simulation or AI models. This may also include working with the LJMU simulators to create new simulation scenarios and/or collect data from the simulator.
It is expected that you will have strong, demonstrable programming skills. Demonstrable experience with developing simulation or optimisation models is a must. Preference will be given to candidates with strong experience in developing simulation models/digital twins for transportation systems.
Experience communicating with external partners, especially those in marine/maritime industry, is also desirable.
