Summary

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, caring, and reliable Extra Care Shift leader to join our dedicated and outstanding team at one of our Extra Care schemes, Avondown House. This is a rewarding role where you will provide essential care and support to adults living in their own homes within a vibrant community atmosphere.

The role involves a rota system which includes early (starting at 7.30am) and late shifts (ending at 10.15pm) and potential working on weekends with some bank holidays for which generous enhancements are paid.

The role, as part of the management team, ensures the provision of holistic person-centred care and practical support as determined by the assessed needs of tenants, to enable individuals to live as independently as possible with dignity and choice.

We promote and maintain a supportive living environment to meet the needs of vulnerable older adults including those with dementia.

Duties:

Assist in managing and supporting the team in the performance of their day-to-day duties, including the allocation of work rotas, undertaking one to one and group supervision and support, developing skills and awareness and identifying training needs.
Assist the Extra Care Manager and the care team in the preparation, implementation and review of individual care plans, care records and risk assessments, attending reviews, and being involved in tenants’ assessments
Monitor the general health and well-being of tenants ensuring early intervention where necessary to avoid hospital admission.
Ensure the proper control, recording and issuing of medications as prescribed by a medical practitioner
This is a challenging but rewarding role. Previous experience of working in care and a commitment to deliver quality care is essential
About You

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who are eager to contribute to our community. Whether you have previous experience in care or are new to the field, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your career and gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
