LSCFT Bed Management & Patient Flow Team are looking to recruit a Bed Management and Patient Flow Administrator. This is a new and exciting role and we are not going to shy away from saying this is ideally a job for someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, we are a very busy team who undertake numerous tasks simultaneously often these being time lead requiring an extremely quick response – we know for the right candidate this will make the role even more exciting for you working in a rewarding and busy environment. The service is a 24 hour 7 day service and you will be expected to work shifts over a 7 day period.

The post holder will support delivery of the Bed Management & Patient Flow Service ensuring that calls are dealt with efficiently, in a timely manner and routed appropriately. Working with all inpatient and community services within the adult and older adult mental health services to identify and place patients in to beds appropriately and timely, working to agreed protocols and procedures. The post holder will also liaise with external partners and agencies including local Acute Medical Hospitals.

The post holder will work alongside and support the Band 4 Bed Management & Patient Flow Coordinators and wider team including cross cover for Transport Team and co-ordinate his/her activities with the members of the Team in order that an efficient service is provided utilising a high level of customer service skills at all times.


• Support the Bed Management & Patient Flow Coordinators and wider team.

• To answer calls, dealing with messages, ensuring that all telephone and personal callers receive a prompt, courteous,non-judgementaland well-informed response.

• To respond to queries, some of which may be complex in nature. Dealing with routine matters and ifnecessaryforwardingtheappropriate memberof staff.

• Work collaboratively with theappropriate managementteams and other departments to provideaccuratebed information.

• Participate inhuddlesfor the bed status update and other relevant information.

• Ensurean accuratebed state is known across the Trust ensuring data is accurately collated and recorded

• Assistwith finding beds for patients within LSCFT or neighbouring NHS Trusts and the private sector toidentifyandallocatebeds within the mostappropriate environment.

• Liaise with modern matrons, hospital managers and senior nurses toidentifyproblems at an early stage and help to resolve them.

• Maintain confidentiality.

• Clarify and confirm complex and sensitive information to ensure understanding and to ensuretimelyand effective direction.
