Specialty Doctor – Learning Disability Psychiatry, Preston (10PA)
We are excited to launch the recruitment for this new substantive Specialty Doctor post in Learning Disability Psychiatry. The post is based at Water Meadow View, which is located in Guild Park on the outskirts of Preston, in the village of Goosnargh. The post is full time (10 PAs).
Water Meadow View is a brand new, 14 bedded unit, which will be opening later this year. This Specialty Doctor post will commence on 1 October 2025and you would need to be available to commence employment then. The opportunity to contribute to the development of this new unit makes this post a particularly exciting one.
There is no on-call commitment attached to this post. However, for those who are Section 12 approved, there may be the opportunity to join one of the 2ndTier on-call rotas within one of the localities, for which additional remuneration would be paid.
You will be based at Water Meadow View and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist. There will also be two Trust Resident Doctors in the team.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, which includes a Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Nurse AC, Clinical Psychologist AC, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurse Managers and Staff Nurses.
There will be ward work or reviews to complete as part of the day-to-day functioning of the unit, physical health reviews of patients where required and input into professional meetings such as ward rounds, CPA, CTR, Manager or Tribunal hearings.
The post holder shall provide clinical input and support to the Consultant and other MDT members. Further details about the clinical duties can be found in the Job Description attached to this advert.
There is a supportive workforce at Guild Park with opportunities to attend and contribute to the teaching programme within Guild Lodge and Trust.
To be eligible to apply for this post, you must possess at least 3 years’ experience in psychiatry and be fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice. Ideally, you will be Section 12 Approved, or eligible for approval at the time of commencing employment.
