We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic legal professional to lead our Contracts & Commercial Team. This is a pivotal role within our Legal Services department, offering the opportunity to shape the delivery of high-quality legal advice across a wide range of commercial and governance matters.
About the Role
Contracts & Commercial Team Leader
As Team Leader, you will:
- Lead and manage a busy team of legal professionals, ensuring efficient, solution-focussed and cost-effective service delivery.
- Provide expert legal advice on complex contractual, commercial, procurement, and governance issues to both internal and external clients.
- Oversee a diverse caseload, including high-value contracts, company law matters, and strategic and significant projects involving the Council and Council-owned companies.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the team, fostering a collaborative, client focussed and supportive working culture.
About You
We're looking for a confident legal leader who can hit the ground running. You should bring:
- Ability to demonstrate your experience in successfully and effectively leading and developing legal teams, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Extensive experience in contract and commercial law, ideally within or alongside the public sector.
- A strong understanding of procurement law and the Procurement Act 2023, company law, and the legal framework governing local authorities.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal issues independently and make sound, strategic decisions.
