Summary

Main Responsibilities

  • To lead and manage employee relations activity across TLC Group by working closely with key stakeholders which enables the delivery of TLC’s Corporate objectives.
  • To work with the Head of People and support the Leadership Team, as a subject matter expert, on their casework always ensuring consistency of policy application and best practice.
  • To provide guidance and advise Senior Management with regards to complex HR situations such as discipline, grievance, absence management and employment law plus actively support Senior Management during appeal cases / as required. This involves sharing of knowledge and best practice to the team by developing and implementing specific HR training.
  • To provide proactive and professional advice to managers and team member regarding all employee relations issues both formal and informal. This will include conduct, performance management, grievances, bullying and harassment, whistleblowing, absence management in line with TLC Policies, current legislation, the ACAS Code of Practice and other professional standards.
  • To support and guide leaders and managers through organisational change, which will include support for manager
  • To lead on, effectively manage and record weekly ER calls with key stakeholders.
  • To manage the local employee relations ER Tracker system including analysing data from reports and production of statistics to inform priorities and influence strategic decision making, including cost and risk analysis.
  • To review each casework and ensure that each case has a plan which sets out roles, responsibilities and timelines which are clearly communicated to relevant team members and monitor progress against those plans.
  • To ensure accurate records are maintained during all HR processes and meetings.
  • To work with the Head of People to contribute to group led ongoing development and review of policies and procedures, ensuring they reflect current legislation and respond to organisational needs.
  • To provide regular updates on case work, highlighting the themes and the areas of high financial and/or reputational risk and present findings.
  • To monitor HR KPI’s and providing reports as required by the Board.
  • To plan, design and implement service ad process improvements to ensure that the HR team operate to both legal and best HR practice.
  • To work in partnership with the Senior Management teams and Champions at TLC, assisting in the development and maintenance of a culture of positive employee relations and supporting with the development of key HR strategies and policies to constructively resolve complex HR issues.
  • To develop and manage the delivery of appropriate training and learning of leaders and managers to support the capabilities and promote an engaged workforce.
  • To benchmark and establish processes to continuously improve HR services to enhance their value and ensure excellence in service delivery.
  • To handle sensitive information in an appropriate way, taking into consideration GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) and TLC policies

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • CIPD Qualified or equivalent experience
  • Experience of employment law through employee relations case handling in a fast moving, multi-site environment
  • Strong leadership/managerial experience and skills
  • Experience in an operational environment with the ability to be strategic and solution focussed
  • Leadership development, coaching and mentoring experience
  • Able to act as an ambassador for the company, protecting and promoting its good name and reputation at all times
  • Ability to use all Microsoft Office applications to an excellent standard
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – friendly, approachable and professional
  • Confident communicator with the ability to relate to staff at all levels and develop strong working relationships
  • Ability to demonstrate confidentiality, empathy and sensitivity, especially when handling sensitive situations and information
  • Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent written skills with attention to detail, accuracy and ability to adapt style to audience
  • Good judgement and decision-making skills, diplomacy
