Staff work to a prepared 5 week rota
Staff are required to work:
Waking Night Shifts :21.45 hrs to 07.15hrs including weekends and bank holidays - averaging 26 hours a week.
In addition staff are required to be ‘on call’ 7 nights in a 5 week period.

Job Purpose:
To complement the work carried out by a team of qualified family support workers, by providing night time support to women and their children who are living in our refuge as a result of experiencing domestic abuse. The key requirement is to ensure that you provide safety and security for the well being of the client group.
Main duties:
1. Ensure the safety and security of the client group, buildings, grounds and property of the centre whilst on duty.
2. To ensure that women and children admitted to the centre are made to feel welcome safe and comfortable. Assisting where necessary to move belongings and family into their allocated unit.
3. To ensure new arrivals are shown around premises, settled into accommodation, provided with welcome packs, informed of all services and sign documentation and that staff are available to answer any queries or to deal with concerns.
4. To ensure house rules, licence agreement and safety procedures are effectively communicated and implemented.
5. Maintain an overall knowledge of all clients resident within the centre and update on individual circumstances regularly, ensuring you keep abreast of issues likely to affect the the wellbeing of clients.
6. To ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding are brought to the urgent attention of management.
7. To communicate with management regarding any breaches of security, house rules or licence agreements especially where there is concern about safety.
8. Receive relevant information during handover.
9. Ensure all relevant occurrences on night shift are recorded fully in the appropriate format and that log/handover book entries are appropriate, informative and state the time of occurrence.
10. To ensure that all relevant support hours are clearly and correctly recorded in the appropriate format to enable input onto the centre’s data base.
11. Carry out routine tours of the buildings at irregular times and patterns.
12. Be aware of the specific safety and security needs of the clients and property during patrols, ensuring residents comply with their licence agreements and ensure that the building is maintained to a high standard while observing the centre’s Health & Safety Policy.
13. Check that all internal fire doors and external fire exits are free from obstructions and operating safely.
14. To ensure that correct procedures are followed during an evacuation and all paperwork completed correctly stating all required information
15. Check that all electrical appliances in communal areas are unplugged as appropriate.
16. Pass on all relevant information to duty staff at end of shift handover
17. To carry out any other duties that may be required and are appropriate to the post, including administrative work.
