Barts Health NHS Trust are seeking to appoint clinical fellow SpR posts in Plastic Surgery, based at the Royal London Hospital; we have a post starting in August and October 2025.

This is fantastic opportunity to be involved in one of the busiest major trauma centres in the country and the largest trust in England. The post will initially be a month fellowship the Plastic Surgery Department for a ST3+ SpR level.

The successful candidates will join a team involved in a broad spectrum of Plastic Surgery. A large emergency workload of upper and lower limb trauma comes from the helicopter serving this Level I Trauma Centre. Elective surgery includes hand, head and neck, breast and surgical oncology reconstructions, together with a commitment to skin malignancy and paediatric plastic surgery.

You will join a team of 17 consultants, 15 SPR level doctors and 9 SHOs. The successful candidate is expected to have experience of managing common plastic surgical emergencies, particularly upper and lower limb trauma.

Formal teaching occurs every week. Appointees will be expected to have passed the MRCS (or equivalent) examination. These posts DO NOT carry Deanery accreditation for the purposes of Surgical Training, though it is expected that they will provide training that will be of value to trainee surgeons.

This post is for 40 hours a week including a variety of theatres and clinics which is calculated as part of a 15 week on-call and work schedule. The on-call rota is 1 in 15 as 24 hours on call, with the possibility of non-resident at night.

You may be required to provide on-call cover and take for patients throughout Barts and The London NHS Trust, including cross district, inter-directorate, and Barts and The London NHS Trust reserves the right to change cover requirements in accordance with the needs of the service.
