We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Children’s Support Workers to join our residential care team. Applicants must have proven experience delivering complex care, including tracheostomy care and suctioning.
Job Overview:
As a Children’s Support Worker in one of our specialist children’s homes, you will play a key role in supporting the daily lives of children with complex medical needs. The role involves delivering clinical and personal care, encouraging social development, and promoting independence within a safe and nurturing residential setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide high-quality personal and clinical care to children and young people within a children’s residential home.
• Carry out clinical procedures including tracheostomy care, suctioning, gastrostomy feeding (if applicable), medication administration, and seizure management in accordance with individual care plans.
• Support children with personal care, daily living routines, and participation in social, recreational, and educational activities.
• Foster a safe, homely, and nurturing environment for the children in your care.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date care records and health documentation in line with safeguarding and company standards.
• Respond promptly and professionally to medical or care-related emergencies.
• Work effectively as part of a consistent and dedicated care team within the home.
Essential Requirements:
• Previous experience working in a children’s home or residential care setting with children or young people.
• Proven, hands-on experience providing tracheostomy care and suctioning (essential).
• Experience supporting children and young people with complex medical and health needs.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, clinical care procedures, and person-centred care.
• A full UK driving licence is desirable.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• A caring, resilient, and patient approach, with the ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively in emergency situations.
