Would you like to join the Ophthalmology Clinic Management Team at York Teaching Hospital as one of our Clinic Coordinators?

The Clinic Coordinator will provide integral support to The Service Manager ensuring that clinics are utilised to maximum capacity and efficiency and will highlight areas of concern to Operational Managers when appropriate. They will take a pro-active approach to Clinic utilisation by looking for procedures and processes to improve clinic management and to enable forward planning and evaluation.

A key element of the role will to be the nominated failsafe guardian for specific areas within Ophthalmology, they will help to support the patient’s pathway and work on enhancing and improving services related to Ophthalmology clinics.

The successful candidate should have at least 2 years’ experience working in operational services in the NHS, including: managing capacity and demand; demonstrable experience of outpatient management and managing activity. The post-holder will need to demonstrate involvement in service redesign projects resulting in best practice systems with demonstrable benefits to our patients.

The post-holder will have a confident and self-motivated attitude, good organisational skills and be able to prioritise their own workload in order to meet deadlines and ensure high standards of services are maintained. In addition, excellent communication skills are essential as you will need to be able to effectively communicate with clinical and administrative staff as well as patients.

The post-holder will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills, have a good understanding of the NHS modernisation agenda and targets (including the NHS electronic referral service); the ability to forward plan in a changing environment, with insight and aptitude for managing, measuring and balancing capacity and demand activity.
