Summary
Role Overview / Scope of work: The contractor role of Registrar is responsible for virtual clerking over the telephone to obtain more detailed information on a patients condition, following their GP referral to Medefer. This is then reviewed by our Consultants to support their clinical decision making. This role is on a contractor arrangement either on an individual self-employed basis or working via your own personal services company, enabling you to work privately to supplement your NHS income and at the same time, be part of a team working to support transformation in the NHS. As a Registrar with Medefer, you will have the opportunity to be part of a new model of digital patient care, and able to work flexibly, for as many hours during the week as you wish (providing patient cases are available). Key responsibilities Clerking patients within your speciality via telephone assessments following a GP referral made to our Virtual Hospital. Take a detailed patient history during clerking calls to support the Consultant to form a management plan for the patient. Discuss risks and benefits of a surgical procedure or invasive test which has been recommended as a possibility by a Consultant, documenting the patients agreement in principle (please note all patients will be formally consented as per normal at a later stage). Experience, skills and competencies Must have a valid GMC registration and a licence to practice. Currently working within an NHS role and able to provide up to date documents in accordance with clinical compliance requirements. Interested in digital health, clinical informatics and new ways of working. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent time management, planning and prioritising skills. Excellent attention to detail, able to process detailed information effectively, consistently and accurately.
