SEN Teaching Assistant Job in Tameside

Your New Company

Hays Education is working in partnership with a well-established and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school located in Tameside. The school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for pupils with a range of complex needs, including autism, ADHD, and moderate to severe learning difficulties. With a strong leadership team and a commitment to professional development, this school offers a rewarding and collaborative workplace.

Your New Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them to access the curriculum and develop essential life skills. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies. This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in a school or care setting
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Certificate) is desirable but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one through Hays

What You'll Get In Return

  • Competitive daily rate of pay
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Hays consultant
  • Access to free CPD training and career development opportunities
  • Opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people
  • Potential for a permanent role within a supportive school environment
  • £250 in high street shopping vouchers for every successful referral
