Careers Coach
Part time, 17.5 hours per week
Fixed term (for a period of 3 years)
Grade 6 (£28,762 - £34,308) pro rata
Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students.
The Careers Service forms part of the wider umbrella of Student Services based in the Bernard King Library and is made up of five teams:
• Abertay Sport
• Advisory Service
• Careers Service
• Counselling and Mental Health Service
• Support Enquiry Zone (SEZ)
The University now seeks to appoint a Career Coach.
Reporting to the Careers Service Manager, you will work with recent/new Abertay graduates who face significant barriers to employment, supporting them to develop confidence, and progress towards a positive employability outcome(s), including:
• A workplace experience/placement (insight into being at work/in the workplace, networking, learning work culture)
• Voluntary placement (to update or develop key skills for an identified sector of choice)
• A Graduate Mentor (offering advice, guidance, and encouragement from appropriate alumni)
• A paid internship (part or full-time)
• Employment (part or full-time - where suitable and realistic)
The role requires a qualified and experienced careers guidance practitioner, with an interest in working directly with graduates with disabilities, impairments, or lifestyle restrictions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of key graduate attributes in relation to University students, along with experience of working on their own initiative as well as part of a small team. Familiarity with a coaching approach to guidance, and capability to develop excellent working relationships with clients and employers would be highly desirable.
If you believe you have the skills and experience for this exciting and challenging role, please submit your application through our online recruitment system, which can be found at https://www.abertay.ac.uk/discover/work-here/jobs/
Please note that we will only accept applications through our online recruitment system.
