We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Direct Payments Support Officer to assist service users and their families across Adult and Community Services and Children’s Services who have chosen to receive Direct Payments.
You will support recipients in recruiting support workers and contracting with service providers, helping them to make the most of their Direct Payments.
In this role, you will also contribute to the growth and development of Direct Payments and Individual Service Funds by delivering training, offering guidance to social work colleagues, and supporting promotional events to raise awareness.
Additionally, you will help develop procedures, policies, and guidance related to Direct Payments and Individual Service Funds.
Key requirements:
Educated to Level 2 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework e.g. NVQ Level 2, GCSE grade A* - C, Skills for Life Level 2
You must be able to demonstrate that you can express yourself fluently and spontaneously
Able to safeguard and promote the welfare of Adults, understanding what harm or abuse is, recognising it and responding to it proportionately
Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to work within the duties and responsibilities that underpins the work of Adult Services, with particular reference to options for personal budgets including Direct Payments, and work flexibly to accommodate the needs of the service
Able to support services with process changes and recognise how organisations can work together to improve service delivery
Able to assimilate and apply complex and detailed information and relay it to customers, including information about Direct Payments, employment of personal assistants, payroll services and employment advice services
Apply anti discriminatory practice and approaches in day to day interaction with colleagues and clients, challenging bias, prejudice and intolerance and able to understand and act to support community engagement and cohesion through acting to secure equitable access to services
Demonstrate how to put person-centred values into practice in a way that promotes the values of individuals and to plan for their future well-being and fulfilment
Uses a range of IT packages relating to area of work, including web based social care directories and resources
Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate information
Knowledge of the legislative framework associated with Direct Payments and Personal Budgets
