Summary of the role:

• To lead and coordinate a team of home care and support staff who are working in the community and be responsible for the monitoring and overseeing of the care and support delivered to the Service Users.

• To provide direct management including covering “on call” services and administration duties necessary for the smooth running of a home care service on a day-to-day basis

You will be expected to perform a variety of tasks, according to the operational management of the service, these include recruitment, training and supervision of staff. Planning, monitoring and managing ROTAS and work assignments, dealing with outside agencies and assisting in business management, planning and marketing including monitoring where appropriate Social Services Contacts and the personalisation agenda

You will receive appropriate training, including Management induction and Qualification up to Level 5 Diploma

The tasks you will be asked to undertake are:

TEAM LEADING AND MANAGEMENT

• Using the rostering system, allocate work every 2 weeks to care and support workers
• Check daily emails and work assignments and ensure staff know where they are meant to be
• Make phone calls or answer phone calls for or on behalf of the company in relation to the service.
• Deal professionally with all visitors
• Act as mentor to new staff and monitor their development
• Manage any incidents and concerns as required and report any concerns appropriately
• Write reports, daily logs and other paperwork as required for the safety of the staff and service users
• Risk Assess service user’s homes before commencement of any care package
• Undertake Service Delivery Assessments and Care Plans prior to care starting with an individual and write these up in a person-centred way
• Be responsible for the health, safety and security of the service and adhere to the Health and Safety At Work Act, Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts
• Work alongside the Registered Manager and other managers so to provide senior cover to the service as required
• Manage staff whilst on duty appropriately, address any shortfalls with them including covering sickness and absence, and always offer support and encouragement
• Deal with complaints and concerns from service users, families and outside agencies.
• Represent the company, at reviews and meetings concerning service users or the service.
• Monitor Primary Workers and ensure 1:1 support is carried out.
• If necessary, begin disciplinary and grievance procedures and pass onto the Registered Manager your concerns.
• Understand how to use systems for bidding for work
• Undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate to your role as directed by the Registered Manager or Director of Consummate Care (UK) Limited




DELIVERY OF PERSONAL CARE – Required as needed to ensure the safe running of the service

• Washing/bathing/showering a person’s body and hair
• Mouth care such as the cleaning of dentures and teeth
• Dressing
• Toileting which may include changing continence pads and dealing with catheter and stoma bags
• Helping them to eat and drink
• Helping them with their personal appearance
• Prompting, giving or administering their medication
• Meal preparation and serving meals and drinks
• Emptying commodes and urine bottles
• Monitoring their physical health and reporting any concerns
• Assessing and monitoring behaviour, mental capacity and support needs in conjunction with outcome based care plans.
• Cope with challenging behaviour and the effects of the individual’s mental capacity
• Write up daily records and charts as required
• Assist the service user to live independently at home
• Carry out domestic duties as required
• Assist Service Users in Social Inclusion
• Support Service Users to access Housing Related Support



OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

You will be expected to ensure all Health and Safety is adhered to within the service and that you will check and update Risk Assessments and Care Plans and report any breaches of Health and Safety to the Registered Manager and RIDDOR as required


BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

To be responsible for monitoring local authority contracts or any other contract the business may have

To assist in the planning and delivery of the business as required and help in the formation of annual business and service plans

To assist in the marketing of the business and actively participate in bringing into the company new customers and contracts

To assist the manager and administration team in ensuring time sheets are checked ready for pay and invoicing
