The postholder will be based in a 15 bedded, mixed sex mental health level 2 rehabilitation ward. You will work under the supervision of a Band 6 OT with the support of an OT assistant.

You will be responsible for completing Occupational therapy assessments, collaboratively developing Occupational formulation and rehabilitation goals. You will implement rehabilitation interventions on a 1:1 and group basis and work within the wider MDT to ensure a comprehensive recovery focused approach is being provided. You will work with service users in a mixture of settings including ward, community venues and home.

You will be responsible for the line management and clinical supervision of the Occupational therapy assistant.

The ward links in with the wider rehabilitation division which incorporates step down pathway for the service user to open or community rehabilitation so you will be have the opportunity to liaise and work with other rehab OTs and members of the MDT

Newly qualified staff will be part of the preceptorship programme to support the transition from university to practice.

You will have access to well established peer supervision and 1:1 supervision provision. You will have access to professional forum to support learning and CPD opportunities.

You will receive a yearly appraisal and be supported in your development including internal and external training.

There is a possible potential for involvement in Trust wide B5 rotation.

To complete comprehensive Occupational therapy assessments using the Model of Human Occupation.

To collaboratively develop service user occupational formulation.

To collaboratively develop service user goals.

To devise and implement a treatment plan to work towards goals identified.

To continuously evaluate and adapt treatment plan accordingly.

To provide evidence based 1:1 and group interventions.

To work within the MDT to ensure a team approach to support service user to achieve goals in the least restrictive setting.

To identify service user functional level and make recommendations regarding ongoing rehabilitation goals and/or support needs to ensure timely, sustainable discharge.

To provide line management and clinical supervision to OTA.

To actively participate in clinical supervision

To actively participate in providing and receiving training.
