We are looking for an exceptional Freedom to Speak Up Guardian to work alongside our Lead Guardian to ensure all our colleagues voices are heard, listened to and responded to.

This is being advertised as a permanent part time role working 15 hours per week supporting the Lead FTSU guardian to ensure cover is in place every day Monday to Friday. This role will primarily focus on supporting our colleagues in Royal Primary Care (RPC) and Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services (DSFS).

This role is a fantastic opportunity! We know that some great potential applicants won’t tick every box; if you don’t have all the necessary qualifications or meet all areas of the person specification, if your talent, passion and values shine through, then we want to hear from you. We will support you to be the best you can be and offer coaching and mentoring, career development opportunities and support to build up your professional networks.

Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) is about anything that gets in the way of us delivering exceptional care. Our proud to CARE values underpin our approach to FTSU and we are committed to working together to foster a speak up/listen up/follow up culture where all colleagues are supported to speak up and know that they will be valued for doing so.

The Freedom to Speak Up Guardian (FTSUG) is an independent and influential role helping to protect patient safety and quality of care, improve the working experience of colleagues and promote learning and improvement.

Working in partnership with individuals and groups within the organisation including the Board, Chief Executive, Non- Executive Directors and Executive team, the Guardian will support colleagues to speak up and leaders to identify learning and improvements in response to the matters spoken up about.

Through their actions and behaviour acting as the independent impartial advisor on matters relating to speaking up the Guardian will hold a reputation for being a highly credible and knowledgeable expert who has the personal and organisational authority to challenge and address poor practice in relation to speaking up/listening up. The Guardian will ensure clear lines of accountability and escalate their authority outside of the organisation should concerns arise seeking support and guidance from the Lead Guardian and National Guardians’ Office where appropriate.

Our vision is exceptional care provided by exceptional people. Our mission is to bring our diverse people, communities, and partners together- providing patient-centred care we can all be proud of.

We all play a part in achieving this, by living up to the values we promise to our patients and each other. As members of staff we will always be guided by our Proud to CARE values:
• COMPASSION – treating everyone with kindness – welcoming diversity and inclusion, considering individual needs; and challenging inappropriate behaviours outside of our values
• AMBITION – Aspiring to be the best – reaching high standards, providing exceptional care and services; and achieving measurable improvements in people’s health and wellbeing
• RESPECT – Valuing and appreciating everyone – listening, learning and acting on their experiences, being open and honest; and recognising that working with others brings benefits
• ENCOURAGEMENT– Opportunities for all – supporting education and development, helping people to bring their improvement ideas to life and speak-up; and getting everyone involved in our future

We will support you to be the best you can be and offer coaching and mentoring, career development opportunities and support to build up your professional networks.

The attached job description and person specification gives you all the information you need about this role. Please look carefully at the criteria in the person specification and tell us what you have done that shows you meet this. If you have any queries please get in touch and we will do our best to answer these for you.
