Crynodeb

Tees Valley Sport is seeking a skilled and collaborative Place Specialist to lead the development and delivery of place-based working, helping create the conditions for people to be active across multiple localities in the Tees Valley. This is a strategic role focused on managing projects, partnerships, and people to embed physical activity into local systems and tackle the inequalities that limit opportunities for people to be active.

You will play a key role in aligning local priorities with Sport England’s Place Expansion investment, supporting both the You’ve Got This (YGT) work in Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland, and the Phase 1 expansion across Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, and Darlington.

This is a leadership role for someone who can confidently connect systems, guide others, and ensure work is driven by insight and community need.

Key Responsibilities

Lead on the design, coordination, and delivery of place-based projects aligned with strategic and local goals.

Manage resources, timelines, and evaluation activity, ensuring effective use of investment and high-quality outcomes.

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across sectors, acting as a trusted partner and connector.

Support organisations and communities to co-design and implement sustainable solutions that embed physical activity.

Influence and align partners to adopt whole-system thinking and deliver inclusive, community-centred approaches.

Lead small teams or task groups and mentor others to build local capacity.

Contribute to capturing learning and sharing insight across the partnership and with stakeholders including Sport England.
