Description
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable SEN Coordinator to join our team at WCR3 Base. The SEN Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all students with special educational needs (SEN) receive the support and guidance necessary to thrive in their academic environment. This position requires a strong commitment to educational equity and a genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning. The ideal candidate will work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student. As the SEN Coordinator, you will be responsible for identifying students who require additional support, maintaining accurate records of their progress, and monitoring the effectiveness of support strategies. You will also provide training and support to staff, ensuring that best practices are followed throughout the school. Responsibilities
Oversee the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
Collaborate with teachers to assess the needs of SEN students and ensure appropriate support is implemented effectively.
Lead training sessions and workshops for staff on best practices for teaching and supporting students with SEN.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and external agencies.
Monitor the effectiveness of SEN interventions and modify strategies based on student performance and feedback.
Facilitate meetings with parents, teachers, and external professionals to discuss student progress and strategies for improvement.
Stay informed about local and national policies regarding special education and advocate for necessary changes within the educational framework.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
Experience working with students with special educational needs in an educational setting.
Strong understanding of the principles of special education and relevant legislation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to assess student needs and develop targeted support strategies.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and reports.
Commitment to professional development and staying current with best practices in special education.
