Introduction
Would you like to help the next generation connect with the important heritage of Middleport Pottery and the Potteries? We are looking for a Casual Learning Facilitator to support our successful schools sessions in the last continuously operating grade II* listed Victorian Pottery. We are a growing charity in the UK’s exciting heritage sector, with big ambitions to expand on our existing successes. We revitalize communities through the regeneration of heritage buildings at risk of decay and demolition. The areas in which Re-Form Heritage works are impacted by deprivation, underinvestment, and inadequate infrastructure - places which will benefit most from the regeneration and growth we successfully deliver.
As Casual Learning Facilitator you will support the delivery of Middleport Pottery’s school sessions and informal learning programme. You will help set-up and host schools sessions and workshops, deliver informal learning workshops and support the learning team. This post is a zero hours freelance position reflecting our flexible learning schedule, and line-managed by the Heritage & Learning Manager. Schools sessions usually run term time, from 9.30am to 3pm but informal leaning workshops often occur on weekends and school holidays.
Your core tasks will include:
• To support the learning team in the delivery and planning of outstanding, creative and dynamic learning sessions to school audiences as part of our formal learning programme.
• To support delivery and development of informal learning programme for families and other learners.
• Working with the Heritage & Learning Manager to ensure accessibility and inclusivity within sessions (including intellectual, physical and cultural).
• To be responsive and flexible in delivering planned sessions so they are consistent and of high quality whilst also being responsive to the ages and needs of a particular group, changes in weather and seasons and other factors that require flexibility.
• Set up and prepare for a session so it is well-prepared and ready to start on time; clear away at the end of the session, leaving spaces clear and tidy.
• Inform the Heritage & Learning Manager with regards to the replenishment of materials and equipment as needed and liaise with the Learning Officer regarding any other materials or resources that could enhance the programme.
• Liaise with the Heritage & Learning Manager to ensure health & safety, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, security and emergency procedures are followed and deliver sessions against written risk assessments.
• Undergo a satisfactory DBS Check in accordance with the responsibility of the role.
