What's involved with this role:

Temporary Finance Business Partner

NW Leicestershire 5266853

Pay Rate: Up to £20.22 per hour PAYE depending on experience

IT equipment to be provided - must be collected and returned to Whitwick Business Centre, Coalville.

Reduced hours will be considered

Key Requirements:

AAT qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3 years post-qualification experience, or extensive experience in a finance environment.
Experience of working in Local Government or a similar public sector finance setting.
Experience and knowledge of Revenue General Fund Finance Business Partnering.
Experience of budget preparation and monitoring.
Experience of final accounts.
Knowledge of Housing Revenue Account (HRA) accounting is desirable.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (e.g., general ledger, budget software).



The purpose of the role is to provide high-quality financial advice, analysis and support to services across the council. This includes financial monitoring, business partnering, performance improvement, and contributing to statutory reporting requirements. The Finance Business Partner will drive value for money, promote good financial governance, and help shape strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Champion the effective management of financial resources, ensuring efficiency, probity, and value for money.
Act as a strategic partner to services, building and maintaining strong working relationships with managers and teams.
Lead on monthly financial monitoring processes, enabling accurate forecasting and robust financial control.
Support the annual budget-setting process and contribute to the preparation of the statement of accounts.
Provide financial advice and insight to support operational and strategic decision-making across the council.
Identify opportunities for commercial development and improved financial performance.
Take a lead role in specific projects and/or areas of financial specialism as directed by the Finance Manager.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies in all financial activities.
