Summary
Main Duties and Responsibilities Communication To use basic communication skills to encourage patients to undertake their treatment programme, including patients with communication and understanding difficulties, e.g. dementia, and seek guidance from the Physiotherapists when necessary To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues to ensure relevant information regarding patients status is reported back to the team To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date patient-related documentation including POMR (Problem Orientated Medical Records) in line with legal and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy requirements To gain valid informed consent and have the ability to work, with the guidance of a Physiotherapist, within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment Service Delivery and Improvement To be responsible for maintaining own personal development by actively participating in formal and informal departmental training programmes by attending in-service training sessions, delivering presentations, attending relevant courses and undertaking reflective practice Attend regular mandatory and statutory training according to Trust policies To participate in the staff appraisal scheme and Individual Development Plan (IDP) as an appraisee People Management and Development To provide basic spontaneous and planned advice and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, regarding safety issues associated with mobility aids, according to departmental policy Patient Care Delivery To be responsible for providing safe and effective care to all patients whilst working within the Physiotherapy team. To be able to work effectively within their limits of practice, in a timely manner
