Autism Care Assistant for a young boy P/T@ £13.74/hr in Blyth - FTE - £26.8k

Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: 9bcaba8e

I am a 10-year-old young man who lives at home with my family in Bedlington. I am looking for somebody to help me have some time away from my family enjoying activities both at home and in the community. I am autistic with ADHD and Chromosome Deletion, so I need a little bit more help than other boys my age.

I need a support worker who is:
· committed to the role
· flexible on their availability more so in school holidays
· is interested in similar things to me.

I do need help, on occasion, with toileting and it is very important you are happy to help me with this during our time together. My mum will help you understand what support I need.
I love:
· gaming, especially Minecraft and fantasy style video games. I can teach you how to play these if you don’t know.
· being active, especially trampolining and swimming – this has to be fun swimming with lots of splashing and laughing!
· being a grown up and would like somebody to come to Starbucks for a ‘coffee’ with me after our fun activities.

I don't like to visit anywhere too loud or busy; sports and crafts are not things I enjoy. I need somebody who can adapt to my responses to scenarios e.g. I’m not keen on losing when playing so being able to help me with this would be a huge advantage.

To be the right person for this role you:
· must be FUN
· enjoy laughing
· be keen to get involved
· Play things I would like to do. I might need your help to get used to you initially, so please just give me time and space.

Hours:
· 20 hours per 4-week period – flexibility needed in the school holidays
· Additional 3 hours per week during school holidays
· Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.
· Any out-of-pocket expenses will be paid by the employer.

Car driver required and must be used insurance for business use. The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer.

The successful applicant will have access to Northumberland County Council’s learning together platform. Training will be via online self-led sessions, on the job and face to face as appropriate.
