We are looking to recruit a committed, confident and experienced care worker to support an 18-year-old young woman who lives in the Blyth area.

The support is to access a day service for 5 hours per day x 3 days per week. Transport will be provided to the day service. The young woman has significant health, and mobility needs and requires somebody who can remain calm and adapt in situations where intervention may be required. She suffers from seizures and requires support with diabetes. It is imperative that the applicant is experienced in these areas. As a wheelchair user, she makes use of a special chair within the home but does enjoy floor time. The ideal applicant will be willing and able to access activities on the floor and engage at her level.

She is a happy, contented individual who is at her happiest when spending time with somebody she knows. She loves to: Read books and share stories Get involved with baking especially the messy side Engage in messy play of all varieties Listen to and engage in music Get out and about for a walk when the weather is suitable for her She isn’t keen on flashing or bright lights so these need to be avoided

The successful applicant will be: Happy go lucky in nature with a can-do approach Experienced with non-verbal communication and able to tailor this to the young woman's nonverbal cues Experienced in provided supporting to individuals who suffer seizures Willing to learn how to complete PEG feeding and administration of medication such as insulin Willing to support with all care and personal hygiene tasks Be physically able to support a client who requires moving and handling from her wheelchair using appropriate hoists

Further information about the role and young woman will be discussed at interview.

A full enhanced disclosure and barring certificate to support the adult workforce will be required, and the cost of this will be met by the employer. Appropriate online and in person training will be a compulsory element of the role and this will include safeguarding, medication, moving and handling and PEG feeding.
