Interim Commercial Property Lawyer

Pay Rate: Up to £40.16 per hour PAYE depending on experience

Key Requirements:

Qualified legal executive, solicitor or barrister.
Experience in property development in a regeneration context and dealing with complex commercial matters for the 5 local authorities.
Previous local government experience required.
Solid knowledge of local authority land and governance structures.
Specific and demonstrable expertise in a specific area of local government law with the technical skill and knowledge to lead on it for the organisation.
Experience of staff management and ability to manage, inspire and motivate staff.
Understanding of procurement law and its impact on property transactions.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).



We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commercial Property Lawyer with a strong background in managing complex property matters, particularly those relating to asset portfolio management and public sector land holdings.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in advising on all aspects of local authority land dealings – including development, disposal, acquisition, leasing, and broader estate management. A solid understanding of local authority governance frameworks and the ability to navigate the legal intricacies that underpin public sector land transactions is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Advising on a wide range of commercial property transactions across a public sector portfolio.
Managing legal matters relating to development, leasing, sales, acquisitions, and land use agreements.
Supporting the delivery of strategic asset management and development projects.
Providing clear, concise legal advice to a variety of audiences, including senior officers and elected Members.
Drafting and negotiating complex property-related legal documentation.
Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements affecting local authority land dealings.
