About this Animal Welfare Licensing Officers job in Canterbury:
You’ll join our Environmental Health team’s Hybrid working, spending your time working from home, the office, and getting out around the district to carry out food hygiene inspections.
To take a key role in ensuring the effective inspection and compliance of all premises subject to the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018, The Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 and any other legislation connected to the keeping of animals at domestic and commercial premises
Respond to complaints from members of the public and enquiries from business owners relating to licensed premises
Carry out research and gather intelligence relating to unlicensed premises
Update and maintain accurate and timely records and produce inspection reports to support the delivery of the Licensing regime
Working with the Environmental Health Manager, other council departments and external bodies, you’ll work to deliver departmental and corporate targets to implement our corporate plan and achieve the council’s aims.
Animal Welfare Licensing Officer’s working pattern:
Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
We offer flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
You’ll benefit from a full week off over the Christmas period, bank holidays off, PLUS 23 days annual leave to use throughout the rest of the year.
About you, the ideal Animal Welfare Licensing Officer for the job:
Your qualifications
Hold a Level 3 Award for Animal Licensing Inspectors or equivalent granted by a body, recognised and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation which oversees the training and assessment of persons in inspecting and licensing animal activities businesses
Your experience
You should have prior working experience in a local authority regulatory environment
You will need to be able to drive and have a car
Your knowledge
Have extensive knowledge of The Animal Welfare Licensing of Activities involving Animals Regulations 2018 and the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976
Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a Basic DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.
