An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Pharmacy department at St Georges University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The individual will lead the pharmacy medicines procurement, distribution and stores services to the Trust. The post holder will need to be flexible and organised, be able to align their values with those of the organisation, work well within a team and have a 'can do' positive attitude.

We will provide the successful candidate with a comprehensive induction covering all aspects of Trust work, support from senior pharmacy staff and an environment to develop further. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding with opportunities for personal and service development including further postgraduate education.
Investment in facilities includes automated dispensing in our large main dispensary, which covers inpatient, outpatient and home delivery services. We have four satellite dispensaries, attached to specialist areas to promote efficient dispensing. Our dispensaries are led by experienced pharmacy technicians allowing clinical staff to focus on patient care, medicines optimisation and care group work. Automated dispensing cabinets are used in the Emergency Department and Major Trauma Ward, supporting automated pharmacy services on ward level. The aseptic unit holds of a “Specials” Manufacturing Authorisation (MS) licence by MHRA.

• Delivery of an effective, efficient and high quality medicines procurement and stores service in line with all professional and regulatory standards, for the trust and other relevant customers.
• Responsible for the maintenance and clinical optimisation of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs) to ensure the safe, efficient and timely distribution of medication to patients.
• Ensuring the trust is exposed to minimum clinical risk by purchasing from reputable suppliers and that unlicensed products are identified for the Quality Assurance team
• Managing the Pharmacy Purchasing Office and Stores services which generates orders and approves invoices worth and estimated £80 million per year
• Managing the daily continuity of supply of drugs and or suggesting suitable alternatives if no stocks are available.
