To be responsible for Pharmacy Medicines Supply Services that include procurement, ordering, invoicing, storage and distribution and pharmacy ward top up service and be responsible for overseeing the stock control within the Pharmacy Department for all three SLAM pharmacy sites. To ensure procurement practices are in line with National, Regional and local standards To advise on the availability of unlicensed medicines for patients where they are deemed necessary and are appropriately sourced. To liaise the Director of Pharmacy in managing medicines purchasing contracts and strategies and to represent the Director of Pharmacy at purchasing consortia and procurement meetings To be responsible for handling quality issues arising from, or implicated in, the supply of stock medicines and to develop standards for the Medicines Supply Services and methods of monitoring the set standards To be responsible for ensuring the development and maintenance of cost-effective procurement strategies, through negotiations with manufacturers and collaboration with other NHS organisations, as appropriate. To develop appropriate business cases for the development of the Pharmacy Medicines Supply Services in line with NHS priorities. To liaise with the Director of Pharmacy or deputy Senior Pharmacy operations Manager, Principal Pharmacists Governance, Formulary & Medicine Information and other senior members of the Pharmacy Department to ensure the safe cost-effective purchasing of medicines Responsible for organising and maintaining stock control methods on a rolling basis within all areas of the Pharmacy Department in liaison with other managers across the three SLAM pharmacy sites To manage the organisation of checking and verification of stock levels for audit purpose, for all stock areas of the Pharmacy Department. To attend regional and national meetings to develop best practice and to have input into regional strategy for providing Pharmacy and Purchasing services. To negotiate with medical representatives and contract managers of pharmaceutical companies to ensure best prices for pharmaceuticals and adequate supply arrangements To ensure regular updating of knowledge and practice by self-directed learning and the attendance at such courses as may be of benefit to the service To be responsible for managing trusts BOC accounts and ensure orders are placed in timely manner to avoid emergency delivery charges To ensure controlled stationary are ordered and maintained following the guidelines To act as Computing Systems Manager for the Pharmacy departments within the Trust To provide advice and training to staff using the Pharmacy Computer Systems Contribute to the development and implementation of pharmacy IT policies and to clinical areas. Provide Quality Assurance for new developments to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction To maintain liaison and communication with all users of pharmacy IT Services Analyse complex pharmacy IT problems clearly across the three sites identifying the key objectives of each process and the key controls. Understand a wide range of pharmacy services and synthesise this into effective Digital Solutions Identify innovative and effective solutions taking account of the latest opportunities offered by developments in computer technology and the latest best practice. Promote the strategic and operational requirements of pharmacy IT systems as a department and as determined by the Trust To be a part of team act as an interface and point of contact between Pharmacy and the EPMA teams Responsible for communicating a clear strategic direction to all pharmacy staff involved in using the Pharmacy Digital Systems To maintain EPMA and pharmacy IT systems Standard Operating Procedures To be responsible for managing pharmacy procurement, stores and IT services team. To be responsible to carry out annual appraisals, Personal Development Plans and setting up the objectives for pharmacy procurement, stores and IT team members. To devise and arrange the delivery of Education and Training programs for pharmacy staff as appropriate. To act as a practice supervisor (PS) for Pre-Registration pharmacy technicians (PTPTs) and ATOs undertaking the apprenticeship/training. To participate in the recruitment and selection of pharmacy staff, as appropriate To interpret and advise the Trust on contract expenditure, savings and contract variance. To provide benchmarking information via Pharmex and Exend. To establish and maintain procedures for the preparation of reports on pharmaceutical stock holding and expenditure To support Pharmacists in Clinical Audit and Drug Use Reviews by the provision of computerised drug usage and costing information To respond to the Trusts FOI requests in timely manner and provide required information using pharmacy stock control systems software Produce detailed reports and specific documents as required by finance To arrange annual stock holding across the three sites and provide the relevant reports to finance To ensure drug invoices and credits are processed and paid to the suppliers in timely manner Regularly review and update invoices process to comply with trusts finance requirements Authorise pharmacy invoices on finance SHARE software To initiate and support Research and Development initiatives designed to develop procurement practice, supply chain management or e-commerce. To directly audit or assist the Trust with self-audit of pharmacy procurement arrangements To develop key performance indicators for procurement. To liaise with clinical users of the system to obtain constructive feedback and detailed requirements for system improvement
