Long Term Futures are working with a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Dagenham to appoint a confident and proactive Behaviour Mentor. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience supporting students with challenging behaviour and an understanding of pastoral care.
The school offers excellent professional development opportunities and a supportive senior leadership team, with the potential for the right candidate to move onto a permanent contract following a successful placement.
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for students struggling with behaviour and engagement
- Support the delivery of behaviour interventions, restorative work, and re-engagement programmes
- Work collaboratively with the pastoral and behaviour teams to monitor progress and implement support strategies
- Assist teachers with in-class behaviour management and pupil welfare
- Build trusted relationships with students and encourage positive routines and emotional regulation
- Liaise with parents, safeguarding leads and outside agencies where required
- Experience working with challenging behaviour in schools, youth work, or similar settings
- Strong pastoral instincts and a calm, measured approach
- Excellent communication skills and confident working with KS3 and KS4 students
- Ability to de-escalate situations and manage behaviour proactively
- Familiarity with behaviour plans, SEMH strategies and safeguarding procedures
- Secondary school experience is essential
- Located in Dagenham and easily accessible via public transport
