Job description

37 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Planning Officer with a working knowledge of the Civil Contingencies legislation and a good understanding of the part Local Authorities play in the response to a major incident.

The successful candidate will support the Emergency Planning Manager in delivering all aspects of the service including risk management, planning, development of the training and exercising programme, monitoring and evaluation.

As a seasoned Business Continuity practitioner, you will be expected to support colleagues across the organisation to review service/directorate Business Continuity Plans through provision of advice and guidance.

You should be able to develop strong working relationships and be confident in delivering training and exercises to audiences at all levels of staff and management.

You will work with the colleagues across the council to ensure that correct information is available to enable the effective delivery of the out of hours service.

You must be able to respond in a measured way in a crisis and be able to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise way in a pressurised environment.

You will also be expected to work with multi-agency partners as part of South Wales Local Resilience Forum and other relevant groups.

A Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) is a requirement for this post and the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Standby Duties and Emergency Response are a requirement of this post.
