Hybrid working – 3 days in the office

Key Requirements:

Degree level qualification in an appropriate role related area, such as, Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Creative Design or relevant work experience.
Proven experience in writing and editing web content is a must. Will need to be able to create or transform content into plain English so information can be easily understood by a range of different stakeholders.
Experience of using m365 intranet to set up and maintain intranet sites and CMS (Preferable if Sitecore) to maintain council website.
Ability to work with variety of internal service teams to support development of intranet content is clear and easily sets out processes to range of internal stakeholders
Experience of form design following GDS design principles to support web users to complete wide range of online transactions.
Understanding of web accessibility and experience of applying guidelines to both web content and page design to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 aa standards.
Ability to manage wide range of stakeholder requests, balancing need to deliver both important vs urgent requests effectively to meet needs and priorities of organisation.



The postholder will play a key role in managing and developing the council’s digital presence, ensuring that digital content is relevant, up to date and easy to find. This role is predominantly focused on web and intranet content editing and creation.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with colleagues across the council, to ensure the Council’s website provides clear, accurate and engaging content (incl. written, video, audio and social media).
Develop and maintain an understanding of the needs and expectations of stakeholders, including residents, local businesses, care professionals and community partners in terms their digital experience.
Design and create wireframes and prototypes for online transactional forms and processes, producing clear specifications for developers, demonstrating a thorough understanding of UX/UI interactions, design principles and GDS standards.
Optimise digital content for search engines and actively use statistical analytics to inform and support decisions.
Promote web accessibility throughout the council and ensure that all interface designs that are produced, comply with Web Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2 – Level AA)
Use web analytic tools such as Google Analytics, heatmaps, search logs and desk research to identify users’ problems, learning and success and share with colleagues and senior managers to inform future development approaches.
Develop and deliver training and training materials in relation to web content creation and design to ensure colleagues are proficient CMS users and understand relevant legislation and best practice relating to content design.
