Summary
About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and creative Design Assistant to join our dynamic Design & IT team. You will play a key role in supporting our data team with a variety of creative tasks, with a strong focus on data visualization. You'll be responsible for transforming complex data sets from SQL Server and other databases into visually compelling dashboards, reports, and other communication materials.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with designers and data analysts to understand data sets and communication objectives.
• Access and manipulate data from SQL Server and other databases using basic queries (training provided).
• Leverage design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Figma) to create clear, informative, and visually appealing dashboards and reports.
• Utilize Excel to create charts, graphs, and other data visualizations.
• Assist in the creation of presentations, marketing materials, and other design assets as needed.
• Stay up-to-date on data visualization trends and best practices.
• Maintain a strong understanding of design principles and user experience (UX) concepts.
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions and offer creative solutions for design challenges.
• Manage multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines consistently.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a creative or design-related field (or equivalent portfolio).
• Strong understanding of design principles and visual communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) a plus.
• Ability to write SQL queries including DML, DDL (training provided).
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A passion for data and a desire to translate it into clear and engaging visuals.
• Eagerness to learn and stay updated on design trends and technologies.
Benefits:
We offer a very attractive salary of £31,000 per annum, 25 holidays per year are included.
