JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Buyer / Purchaser with experience in a similar buying / purchasing role, strong negotiating skills and a confident telephone manner.
Working as the Buyer / Purchaser you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining the quality and timely delivery of goods and services.
As the Buyer / Purchaser you will source, negotiate, and procure materials, equipment, and services essential for manufacturing plant and tunnelling equipment. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors and identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Buyer / Purchaser will include:
• Responding to Site communications (email and calls and in-person) regarding products/services required in a time efficient manner
• Ensuring all purchased items meet project schedules and working with the team to determine action for overdue materials
• Source and purchase materials, tools, equipment, plant
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers
• Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Collaborate with project managers to understand material requirements and specifications
• Support the development of the sustainability and social impact agenda, proactively engaging the supply chain for innovations and new sustainable products or technologies and keeping detailed reports on sustainable outputs i.e. fuel usage, spend on timber, etc.
• Working with project teams to review project progress and address associated issues immediately
• Maintenance and review of company Approved Supplier List
• Complete purchase order queries
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• Good communication skills
• Confident telephone manner
• Strong negotiation skills
• Competent with IT including Microsoft Excel
• Experience within civil engineering / construction industry beneficial
• Experience with mechanical engineering / hydraulics beneficial
