Job Description
The Personal Assistant (PA) will provide essential support to an individual who is a wheelchair user with a physical disability and a heightened risk of falls. This role focuses on assisting with mobility, personal care, and daily activities, ensuring the individual’s safety, comfort, and independence.

Roles and Responsibilities
Personal Care Assistance:
Provide assistance with daily personal care tasks, including dressing, bathing, grooming, and toileting.
Help with mobility in and out of the wheelchair and other seating arrangements, ensuring proper posture and comfort.
Support with the use of mobility aids (wheelchair, transfer boards, etc.).
Assist with medication reminders and administration if needed.
Wheelchair and Mobility Support:
Assist with transferring in and out of the wheelchair, ensuring safety during all transfers (e.g., from bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to toilet, etc.).
Help with pushing the wheelchair in and around the home and outdoors, ensuring smooth movement and safety.
Ensure that the wheelchair is properly maintained (e.g., checking tires, brakes, cleanliness, and comfort adjustments).
Monitor the environment for hazards (e.g., uneven flooring, clutter, door thresholds) and assist with adjustments to prevent falls.
Fall Prevention:
Assist with positioning the wheelchair safely during activities to reduce the risk of falls or accidents.
Be vigilant in the monitoring of the individual’s physical movements, ready to intervene if there is a risk of tipping over or falling from the wheelchair.
Maintain a clutter-free environment to ensure safe movement and accessibility for the wheelchair.
Meal Preparation and Assistance:
Prepare nutritious meals based on the individual’s dietary needs.
Assist with feeding when necessary, ensuring the individual’s comfort and dignity during mealtimes.
Household Support:
Provide light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, and organizing the home to ensure accessibility and safety.
Adjust furniture and living spaces to accommodate the wheelchair and ensure ease of movement.
Companionship and Emotional Support:
Offer companionship, engage in conversation, and participate in activities to enhance the individual’s emotional well-being.
Encourage involvement in social or recreational activities that align with the individual’s interests, while ensuring their safety and comfort.
Transportation Assistance:
Assist with transportation to medical appointments, errands, and other outings, including help with loading and unloading the wheelchair from vehicles if needed.
Provide support during outings to ensure safe navigation through public spaces (e.g., ramps, elevators, or uneven terrain).
Specific Requirements
