York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.

As one of the fastest growing universities in the U.K over recent years, we have a new strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world, and a more prosperous region. We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset.

The team

The Institute for Health and Care Improvement (IHCI) seeks to appoint a Health Services Research Fellow.

The IHCI is a hub for interdisciplinary research in health and social care at York St John University. It aims to improve health and care by conducting high-quality and impactful research, and by supporting research and the next generation of researchers. One of the roles for IHCI is connecting people with different knowledge and skills to develop interdisciplinary inclusive research, so the research can benefit all. See the IHCI webpages for further information: https://www.yorksj.ac.uk/research/institute-for-health-and-care-improvement/

The core institute team is made up of a leadership and delivery group and several researchers and visiting appointments. It also has an independent steering group, a wider community of affiliates from the University’s Schools, and multiple external partners.

The role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support our partnership working with local NHS Trusts and other health-focused organisations, and to provide leadership on the development of collaborative research projects, research publications, and research grant applications.

The Health Services Research Fellow will become a key member of the IHCI’s core team and report directly to the Institute Director, Professor Garry Tew.

Key requirements

Successful candidates should hold a Doctorate level qualification and have a good track record of health-related research publications.

Experience of working within the Higher Education sector would be a distinct advantage, in addition to ongoing relevant clinical experience or experience working in or with a health-focused organisation where conducting or supporting research was required.

Further Information

The post is offered as a fractional appointment (up to 0.4 fte) and for 24 months with flexible hours and working practices to allow the appointee to remain in clinical practice or equivalent.

It is anticipated that the selection process will include a presentation and an interview. Further details will be provided if you are shortlisted for interview.
