Senior Data Analyst, Personnel Security Team, Ministry of Justice

1. Overview

We have one senior data analyst role in the Personnel Security and National Security Vetting team, within the Group Security Directorate.

Roles are open to:

1. Existing analysts from all professions (GORS/GSS/GSR/GES/GDD) either on level transfer or on promotion.
2. Other candidates that are not members of GSS, GORS, GSR, GES or GDD professions but possess and can demonstrate similar experience at the appropriate level.

This is a DV post which has a minimum UK residency requirement of 7 years within the preceding 10 year period

SEO grade – must meet at least one of the following:
1. You possess a numerate degree or a degree that has an analytical, statistical or research element, with a 2:2 or above, or as a higher degree (e.g. MSc, PhD).
2. Alternatively, you have significant work experience (usually a minimum of three years) evidencing use of data and/or analytical skills. Time spent on an analytical PhD can count towards this.

Interviews are likely to take place in April 2025 and will be held via MS Teams. We will keep a merit list for a year for those who successfully pass the interview board but who are not offered a post.


About the Security and Information Directorate

The Ministry of Justice’s (MoJ) Security and Information Directorate (SID) has a broad range of responsibilities including personnel, physical and cyber security through to information management and data protection. Our aim is to ensure the MoJ holds information in compliance with legislation; that all information is correctly stored, accessible, and shared appropriately; and our information is protected, and the risks managed.

The MoJ Group Security Team sits within SID and is enabling good security practices through the provision of personnel and physical security policies, guidance, and education and the provision of a leak investigation service, providing assurance to the departmental SIRO, the Permanent Secretary, and other senior stakeholders that these risks are being effectively managed in the delivery of MoJ objectives.
Working as part of the MOJ’s Security and Information Directorate (SID) you’ll use your experience and passion to push forward MOJ’s ambitious goals in the security arena.

You will work with a team of committed professionals to achieve clear, positive and ongoing improvements to our services, and the department-wide security culture. This will include working closely with the Data and Analysis Directorates.

The Data and Analysis Directorates are a multi-disciplinary team of around 650 staff that sits at the heart of the Ministry of Justice providing analytical support across a diverse and exciting agenda. They work in a dynamic and fast-paced context and their skills are in heavy demand across the Ministry of Justice. Their collaborations beyond government are seen as ground-breaking. The Data and Analysis community is made up of analysts and specialists including: Social Researchers (GSR), Economists (GES), Operational Researchers (GORS), Statisticians (GSS), Data Engineers, Data Scientists (GDD) and other data specialists (such as data strategists, data dissemination, generalists and assurance experts.
