Are you a passionate and dedicated psychiatrist looking to be part of a dynamic team?
The North London Forensic Service have an exciting position available for an enthusiastic and motivated consultant psychiatrist to join the existing substantive consultant psychiatrists within the well-established Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT) team.
The successful applicant will join the wider team of consultant psychiatrists within the North London Forensic Service- a large and successful forensic psychiatric service in north London with its secure care services being deemed ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC.
The Specialist Community Forensic Team currently cover the five London boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey, and aims to provide both assertive pre-discharge (transition management) and high levels of multi-disciplinary community forensic after-care for unrestricted patients discharged from secure care. The successful applicant will have responsibility for providing consultant leadership to this well organised team in the delivery of high-quality patient care to service users, as well as having opportunity to shape the future of forensic services in north London.
The post holder will find themselves well supported, with ample opportunities for ongoing professional development and collaborative working within the North London Forensic Service in North London NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will join a team of 29 Consultant Psychiatrists within the North London Forensic Service, a large and successful forensic psychiatric service in north London, with its secure care services, based in in Enfield, being deemed ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC. The successful applicant will have responsibility for providing Consultant leadership to the Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT), where they will be expected to act as the responsible clinician for up to an approximate maximum of 45 community unrestricted patients discharged from secure care.
North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) provides mental health services across the five boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington. Most of the services are based in the community but inpatient mental health services in hospital are also provided. Specialist services include children and young people’s mental health services, prison services, forensic services, eating disorders and drug and alcohol recovery. NLFS also support the UK Armed forces community, including members of the Reserve Forces, providing specialist veteran services across London.
• To provide clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care to service users in SCFT
• To provide assessments, treatments, and interventions as part of SCFT.
• To provide holistic care considering the complex health and social care needs of the Service user.
• To provide clinical and professional leadership within the post and take part in management activities and governance processes related to the post or the wider service within which it is embedded.
• As a senior clinician, to have an integral role in the performance of the SCFT, further development of the service, and the development of the clinical pathways and priorities of the service line.
• To train, teach and supervise medical staff and other professionals.
• Compliance with all legal obligations covering clinical practice (e.g. Mental Health Act and code of practice).
• A commitment to ensuring fair access to services for all.
• Compliance with procedures whereby doctors report concerns about professional conduct or competence of medical or other colleagues.
• Compliance with the principles of practice laid out by the GMC and Royal College of Psychiatrists.
