Skills & Experience:

HNC or equivalent/higher qualification in Civil Engineering or in a closely related discipline.
NVQ Level 4 Supervisory
Knowledge of engineering contract documentation and associated measurement and valuation procedures.
Significant experience in the management of works of highway maintenance and construction.
Experience in the application of Health & Safety legislation and procedures on highways sites.
Good negotiating skills.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to lead and manage staff and workforce.
Ability to present information both verbally and in writing in the preparation of correspondence and reports.



What's involved with this role: This role involves conducting highways inspections to ensure roads and infrastructure meet safety and quality standards. You will identify and report defects, ensure regulatory compliance, and supervise subcontractors to ensure efficient, on-time, and budget-compliant work. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills are key to collaborating with both internal teams and external contractors.



Key duties:

Coordinating staff and operatives, ensuring alignment with County Council policies and procedures.
Efficiently managing resource utilization to meet project deadlines.
Planning and identifying resource needs, preparing project schedules, and liaising with the Area Manager.
Overseeing subcontracted activities and ensuring smooth coordination.
Ensuring compliance with contract procedures, documentation, and current standards.
Accurately setting out projects to meet specifications.
Optimizing financial performance while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
