Working in Nottingham means working in a culturally vibrant and diverse city. We have a strong tradition of working collaboratively and creatively to improve the inclusion of all children in our city, and this is highly regarded by our settings and the Council. Our team is warm, friendly and reflective, and we value a range of professional practices and contributions that help to improve children’s lives.

Our dynamic approach ensures EPs mainly engage in traded and early intervention work, with a small portion of time dedicated to statutory duties, offering a varied and engaging work experience. All members of the team have time to be involved in delivering training (such as ELSA), projects or other development work within the service and across the City and regularly work together to facilitate processes such as Circles of Adults and MAPs.

To find out more about our service and read our service brochure please visit Educational Psychology - Nottingham City Council.

Within the Educational Psychology Service we’re really proud of our history of supporting Trainee Educational Psychologists on placement with us and many have gone on to remain with us as qualified psychologists.

About the Role

As a Trainee EP, you will be a highly valued member of our team and be involved in all aspects of service delivery including early intervention and statutory work, training and development activities. Our trainees benefit from a bespoke programme of support and development that will help to balance the various demands of professional training and grow confident and skilled practitioners.

Trainees benefit from individual supervision from one of our skilled EPs. We have very strong links with local training providers as supervisors, tutors and guest speakers.

Our aim is to develop skills through a blend of independent and joint work with other members of the team across a range of practices.

We are looking to appoint two TEPs from September 2025 who are in the second or third year of a professional doctorate in educational psychology.

About You

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Applicant must be on a professional Educational Psychologist training course which is accredited by the British Psychological Society and on graduation they must be eligible to be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

- A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
