The Opportunity:

The successful candidate will join Dr. Shira Tal, Prof. Mits Ota and Prof. Jennifer Culbertson, investigating what kinds of linguistic patterns infants find easy (or hard) to learn. In particular, using an infant-controlled sequential looking procedure, we investigate whether redundancy can benefit learning for infants in a novel language.

The post holder will be responsible for important research-related activities, including assisting with the preparation of materials and the setup, participants recruitment, and the execution of the experiments (including liaising with participant families). This is an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth research experience in developmental research and to learn more advanced experimental techniques.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Undergraduate/Postgraduate degree in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or neighbouring discipline.
Demonstrable experience of preparation and setting up of experimental materials
Proven experience of data collection from participants
Accurate data entry into lab books and databases
Be reliable, consistent, a good worker and a good communicator.
Previous experience working with children is an advantage.
