Summary

Our client a highly successful Malting company since 1823 has a current vacancy for a Maintenance Technician based within their Pencaitland site, just outside Edinburgh.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the main purpose of this role will be to take responsibility for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance of all plant equipment to ensure the required levels of malt production are achieved.

Hours of work and work schedule:

Days: 40 hours a week, 8.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday
Shifts: 42 hours a week, Four days on 6am to 6pm, four days off, four nights on 6pm to 6am, four nights off.
Absence cover and other relief cover: 12-hour shifts, days/nights and may be at short notice.
No holidays to be taken during the designated harvest period (Mid August till October)

Responsibilities:

Responsible to the Maintenance Supervisor for ensuring the required levels of malt production are achieved at Pencaitland by maintaining plant and equipment to the required standards and dealing with breakdowns effectively and efficiently. Provide call out cover for out of hours breakdowns, on a rota-based system. Be flexible to aid all on-site personnel as required.

Electrical Testing

Have a can-do attitude
Quality awareness
Flexible
Practical experience in an industrial scale production environment
Electricity at Work regulations
Health and Safety legislation
Polio and Tetanus vaccinations and up to date boosters
Willing to learn/train in various areas relating to the position
Welding, MIG, TIG, Arc
Metal work and Fabrication
Previous experience in a malting manufacturing environment
