Cellular Pathology at UHS is part of the Southern Counties Pathology network and operates a busy Mon-Sat, 7am-7pm clinical service. UHS Cellular Pathology is a large tertiary department, undertaking both local and regional specialist services, which includes histopathology, neuropathology, diagnostic cytopathology, research histology, mortuary and biomedical imaging. The department works closely with partner molecular pathology & genomic departments and organisations and is part of the Central and South Genomic Hub. The department promotes scientist-led specimen dissection, and is part of the national PathLake digital pathology project. What youll do Complete a three year Scientist training programme as to gain a broad base of knowledge and experience in Cellular Pathology and at the end be eligible for registration with the HCPC as a Clinical Scientist Undertake a range of demanding scientific and clinical functions, mainly under supervision, as well as occasional duties in response to specific elements of the curriculum. Mandatory attendance at Manchester Metropolitan University to complete the MSc, included as part of the programme. What were looking forA committed, in depth interest in scientific practice and its application to clinical care of patients. Understanding of the role of histopathology in healthcare and disease and its application in a healthcare setting. Ability to develop proficiency in the performance of routine and complex techniques currently in use in molecular pathology, haematology and histopathology, and the ability to develop and validate new techniques.
