An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trust’s Performance and Information Team for an experienced senior informatics professional to play a key role in the ongoing development and transformation of the Trust’s data warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions.



We are seeking a passionate and forward-thinking individual with a proven track record of driving improvements in Business Intelligence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server for data warehouse development and the administration of an enterprise-level Business Intelligence platform, such as Tableau.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for the Trust’s Information Management team, serving as an authoritative source of expertise. A key aspect of this role involves enhancing existing solutions and scripts to optimize efficiency and accuracy, as well as conducting peer reviews of code through a structured change control process.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Performance and Information and the team’s Principal Analyst, the post holder will contribute to shaping the future direction of the team and its strategic developments.

1. Provide support as the ‘subject matter expert’ in the determination of Trust data and business information system requirements; offering detailed advice on data collection, management and reporting strategies. This will involve working collaboratively with stakeholders to understand highly complex issues, provide highly technical solutions and support for interpreting and resolving highly complex data set reporting requirements, often without precedent, or with conflicting options.


2. Develop and implement ‘cutting edge’ business intelligence tools which may not be being used by any other NHS organisations to deliver the Trust’s Digital Strategy and service transformation programmes


3. Responsible for the development and operation of multiple and business critical Trust wide business intelligence systems


4. Provide authoritative expert information to senior staff including executives, guidance, and advice on all matters pertaining to the design, development, implementation, and support of the trust data warehouse.

5. Be the driving force behind the adoption of new data technologies in the organisation.

6. Ensure the development and delivery of integrated performance dashboards (using data from multiple Trust systems) to support effective performance management and decision making for all staff across the Trust.

7. Line manage the Information Management and business Intelligence development team to provide mentoring, staff development, appraisal to ensure all resources are deployed to maximise efficiency and quality of delivery

8. Design Trust wide systems to Identify data quality issues and manage strategies to resolve them

9. Design and develop data schemas using Microsoft SQL Server and associated technologies such as Python –the post holder shall have expert level knowledge of SQL.

10. Be able to demonstrate an ability through previous experience of administering an enterprise level Business Intelligence software, such as Tableau Server.

11. Provide a DBA function to the Business Intelligence team, by fine tuning queries and implementing a change management approach.

12. Be familiar with and be an expert in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle

13. Liaise and work closely with the IT Modernisation team to maintain, develop and enhance infrastructure supporting BI.

14. Update and maintain the detailed functional and technical system specifications of data warehouse and BI platform.

15. Keep up to date on industry best practice, frameworks, methods and tools relating to the design, development, implementation and support of data warehouses, and data management.
