A Vacancy at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Early Pregnancy & Emergency Gynaecology Clinical Nurse / Midwife Specialist at Band 7 with a qualification in Medical Ultrasound OR a nurse / midwife with a real interest wishing to undergo training at Band 6. This is a full-time permanent position at our Early Pregnancy & Acute Gynaecology Unit at West Middlesex University Hospital, part of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The Unit provides emergency care and support for women with complications in early pregnancy up to 17 + 6 weeks and emergency care for acute gynaecology complications unrelated to pregnancy through direct internal referral from our Emergency Department and other services.
The service ethos is to provide time-critical rapid assessment of our women within a one-stop clinical model in close liaison with our A&E and GP colleagues. The Unit delivers specialist, evidence-based, holistic care to women with early pregnancy and gynaecology complications in an environment that supports patient choice and dignity. The multi-professional team consists of consultant gynaecologists, clinical nurse specialists, clinical research fellows and specialist sonographers.
The successful candidate must have experience of gynaecology and early pregnancy management and treatment. They must also have or wish to pursue a qualification in early pregnancy and gynaecology scanning.
As a band 7 Nurse / Midwife Specialist, you will be an expert practitioner who, at a senior level, leads on and facilitates the provision of high quality, specialist nursing care to women seen within the gynaecology service at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, with a specialist interest in early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology.
The post holder would be expected to work independently with a defined clinical caseload as part of the Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology team.
The post holder will also provide a service for the support of inpatient gynaecological care, including preparing patients attending the Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology Unit for admission and supporting the nursing team.
You will provide diagnostics (including ultrasound scanning), treatment, support and advice to women and their families attending the Trust, either as an outpatient or inpatient. The post holder will also act as a resource to other professionals working in gynaecology. The role encompasses clinical, consultative, teaching, leadership, research and audit functions.
You will lead initiatives to continuously improve parity of the service across site, patient experience, key operational targets as well as quality and clinical care standards within the department.

Leadership, Management and Collaborative Practice
· Work within an agreed job plan to meet service needs, to be agreed within three months of taking up post and reviewed annually and maintain records of activity.
· Provide specialist, expert episodes of nursing care based on assessment of physical, social, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs and in liaison with the MDT and other relevant health and care agencies.
· Provide adequate cover for gynaecology inpatients at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust to facilitate high quality patient care and effective flow.
· To act as a resource for women and the clinical and administrative teams by provision of comprehensive advice, information, teaching and training within Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
· Undertake where appropriate, nursing research with published outcomes and updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice, and the setting of quality standards within the speciality of Endometriosis and fibroids.
· Contribute to formulating reports and clinical audit of own practice, service and outcomes.
· Active involvement in the development of the Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology service.
· Contribute to the safety of the service by reporting and monitoring patient safety incidents, participating in and supporting any relevant investigation.
· Update health education information as an on-going project that is reinforced by evidence base research data.
• Ensure all relevant data is prepared for Directorate and Divisional Governance.
