Summary

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred approach for providing long-term support to people with learning disabilities and autism, including those with mental health conditions, who display, or may be at risk of developing, behaviours of concern. The PBS Practitioner works in partnership with individuals to understand their life circumstances including physical and emotional needs, with the aim of developing physical and social environments that are supportive and capable of meeting people’s needs. The PBS Practitioner achieves this by working in partnership with other health and social care teams across Gloucestershire.

As a PBS Practitioner, you will have the chance to make a real positive impact on people’s lives, utilising your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders. Using your significant knowledge of the PBS framework and experience of working with vulnerable adults, you will utilise your professional judgement to undertake Functional Assessments and to develop BSP’s. You will contribute to the development of the service and be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative. You will embrace new ways of thinking and working as well as take up opportunities for professional and self-development. As a PBS Practitioner, we understand the work you do on a daily basis and provide the support you need to make a difference to the people of Gloucestershire. To join us, you must:

Have a professional Diploma in Positive Behavioural Support (QCF4) or equivalent (Applied Behavioural Analysis), or currently working towards significant experience within the field of PBS

Be registered as a member of the UKSBA or willingness to register

Have working knowledge of the legislative and Positive Behaviour Support frameworks, theory and practice; including the PBS competencies outlined by the PBS academy

Be highly organised with a solution focused, logical and innovative approach to challenges

Be able to prioritise, using a risk based approach
