Summary

Job Description

Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (ADRS) are seeking to recruit Social Care Workers to join a multi-disciplinary and integrated team that delivers alcohol and drug care and treatment services within a recovery oriented system of care.

Posts are in locations across the city.

Glasgow Alcohol & Drug Recovery Service is committed to providing high quality care using an integrated model of delivery. Social care workers will be working as part of a large team dealing with complex service users with problematic drug and alcohol use and associated physical and mental health problems. Social care workers are expected to work closely with children and families, criminal justice services, homelessness services, acute services, and third sector organisations, amongst others.

Candidates should be highly motivated and have good communication skills. They should hold values which promote the wellbeing of people with addiction problems, have a desire to support individuals with compassion and kindness while respecting their rights and choices.

Candidates should have an awareness of the impact of drug and alcohol issues on service users and the wider community. They should also have an understanding and commitment to recovery for individuals who experience difficulties with alcohol and drug issues.

Candidates with lived experience of drug and/or alcohol misuse are encouraged to apply, subject to meeting the requirements of the post.

You must possess a HNC in Social Care and /or SVQ Level 3 in Social Care.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment along with SSSC Registration. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Check Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.

Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date.
