Crynodeb

The post holder will provide independent advocacy support on a collective basis, enabling those with lived experience of mental health and/or alcohol and drugs use to influence and improve the experiences of people receiving care and support.

The Ceartas Collective project involves working with people who have lived experience of mental health/alcohol/drug use. The project’s aim is to give a voice to people in order to improve the experiences of people who are receiving support and treatment.

We are looking for a skilled communicator with a creative approach to establish and develop collective advocacy in East Dunbartonshire.

The post holder will lead on the creation, development and support of collective advocacy groups. They will work with participants to develop resources, awareness raising opportunities and support participants to become co-facilitators.

This post will assist group members to contribute their knowledge in the way that works best for them. This might be around a particular topic e.g. stigma, legislation, or to a particular group of professionals e.g. Mental Health Officers or Social Workers.

Tasks

1. Make contact and consult with groups and individuals who have lived experience of mental health/alcohol/substance use in East Dunbartonshire to promote and raise awareness of the project

2. Establish Collective Advocacy Groups within East Dunbartonshire

3. Organise and facilitate Collective Advocacy Group meetings. These may be online and/or face to face;

4. Be led by the group and assist them to prepare and deliver experience led training and/or awareness raising sessions, to other agencies and stakeholders

5. Use a variety of methods to help the group members to share and discuss what’s important to them

6. Establish a steering group of people with lived experience to shape the development and delivery of the service

7. Establish a sustainable cycle where experienced participants take on peer leadership roles

8. Represent the expressed views and interests of the group at relevant meetings where representative from the group are unable to attend;

9. Collaborate and share learning and good practice with other collective providers.

10. Create and distribute publicity about the projects;

11. Prepare reports on agreed targets, recording, monitoring and evaluation.

12. Work in partnership with colleagues in Ceartas to promote cross referrals



Teamwork
1. To participate in Strategic partnership meetings, Board meetings, internal meetings as required.
2. To critically reflect on practice and participate in practice discussions and individual support and supervision.
3. To assist the team to respond to information requests and other enquiries


Organisational Responsibilities
1. To be aware of the aims and objectives of Ceartas and work within the staff group to ensure these are achieved.
2. To work within the policies, principles and good practice of Ceartas.
3. To carry out the necessary co-ordination, administration and planning as required for the success of the organisation.
4. To assist with the provision of presentations and training.
5. To assist in the promotion of Ceartas and to raise awareness of its services
6. To make effective use of training opportunities made available through Ceartas and other appropriate organisations.
7. Ensure that the appropriate systems are in place to monitor and review the quality to of service delivered.
8. Support and Encourage User Involvement opportunities in the organisation.
9. Any other task that may be reasonably requested of the post-holder.
