Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Planner (Gr J) to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our urban planning initiatives, implementing advanced planning methodologies, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure sustainable development within our community. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of planning principles, zoning regulations, and environmental policies. You will lead complex planning projects and work closely with government agencies, community organizations, and private developers to create innovative solutions that address our community’s diverse needs. As a Principal Planner, you will mentor and guide junior planners, ensuring that best practices are followed and that the team is equipped with the necessary skills to succeed. Your ability to analyze data, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings to a variety of audiences will be crucial in this role. You will also engage with the public to gather feedback and foster a collaborative approach to planning. Responsibilities
Lead and manage complex planning projects from initiation to completion.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement land use policies and regulations.
Conduct thorough analyses of planning issues, demographic trends, and environmental impacts.
Prepare and present comprehensive planning reports, recommendations, and updates to city councils and community boards.
Mentor and supervise junior planners and interns, fostering their professional growth and development.
Engage with the public through outreach programs, workshops, and public meetings to gather input and feedback.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal planning regulations and standards.
Requirements
Master's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field.
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in urban or regional planning.
Strong knowledge of zoning laws, land use planning, and environmental regulations.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex planning projects.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including public officials, community groups, and private sector partners.
Hours Per Week: 30.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £32.16
