The Role

Supporting our new Chief Executive and Executive Cabinet, the Assistant Director role is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced HR/OD leader who is passionate and driven to design and implement successful workforce strategies to deliver large scale organisational change and improvement programmes.
You will be leading an enthusiastic, motivated and highly professional People & Communications Service, providing a comprehensive workforce offer across the organisation. Additionally, you will provide leadership to our communications team who are responsible for both internal and external communications for the Borough.

Through your leadership, you will drive forward the workforce and communications approach to enable services to establish and sustain effective workforce management approaches, ensuring they are effectively engaged. In addition, you will support the Head of Communications to ensure we have in place an effective and efficient communications and engagement offer to both our workforce, residents, businesses and other stakeholders.
To be successful in the role you will be a proactive, driven individual with an up-to-date knowledge of employment law, best practice and strategic thinking on workforce matters, along with proven professional HR experience. You will be a confident influencer, adept at managing multiple priorities and will be CIPD qualified.
You will have an understanding of the importance of effective and impactful communications with a diverse audience.
